Aamir Khan's Movie released by Zee Studios has won hearts over the globe

Two of his movies have made this year special for him

Always overwhelming the global audience with entertaining performances, this year Aamir Khan absolutely surprised us with a completely different avatar in this film when he portrayed a quirky music composer, Shakti Kumar. His company, Aamir Khan Production’s last release, Secret Superstar has been lauded across the globe for its unique content and intriguing storyline. The movie has created an impact on the masses.

When asked Aamir about the response Secret Superstar got worldwide, he said, “This year has really been special because of the response Secret Superstar received. It was heartwarming and satisfying. And it did great business for the kind of film it was. Even though my role was smaller, I thoroughly enjoyed the part. I was happy to work with Advait Chandan”

The film revolves around the school-going girl Insiya Malik, played by Zaira Wasim, who aspires to become a singer but is not allowed by her overbearing father. So she takes the online route by keeping her identity secret with the help of a small-time music director Shakti Kumar helps her.

Zee Studios International, one of the top distributors of Indian films, has successfully released Secret Superstar across the globe. And they began the next phase of the International release for the film by opening in a key territory, Taiwan on 24th November 2017 across 73 screens, a record for an Indian film in the Chinese-speaking territory.  After releasing across markets like U.K., USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UAE/GCC, Pakistan, Turkey, Malta, Hungary, Maldives and rest of the world, Secret Superstar is serving as a bellwether for Zee Studios International and Aamir Khan Productions.

On Secret Superstar’s Taiwan release, Vibha Chopra, Head - Zee Studios International (Film Marketing, Distribution and Acquisition) said, “Content is what wins hearts worldwide and Secret Superstar, which is heavy on content is a proof of that. After collecting an exceptional number on its opening weekend, Secret Superstar has now managed to collect a total of USD 700,681 in Taiwan becoming the widest Bollywood film release in Taiwan till date.“Given that Secret Superstar has connected with various audiences across the globe, we are excited to see how well the film does in the coming months, in other territories as well” adds Vibha.

Aamir Khan has got a huge fan following overseas; his previous movies are examples of it. Dangal being one of the biggest exemplars of it. Even his movies like 3 idiots PK have gone to be huge blockbusters overseas. Secret Superstar continues its success streak in Taiwan and has gone on to become one of the sleeper hits of 2017. The film even in Taiwan received accolades from critics and audience alike for its heart touching content. Expanding its horizons Secret Superstar have released in Taiwan and within 3 days the response that it got from the audience there is something which will make every Indian proud of the movie. The film is screened on 73 screens nationwide, a record-breaking release in Taiwan for an Indian movie till now.

The film revolves around a 15-year-old school-going girl Insiya Malik the archetypal small town girl with big dreams of becoming a singer, who aspires to become a singer but is not allowed by her overbearing father.  Unable to enter an inter-school talent show out of fear of her bitter, controlling father, who makes a point of favouring his son over his daughter, Insiya takes her frustrations out on her illiterate mother who bears the brunt of her father's violent temper. The story is predominant with the girl empowerment theme peppered with the usual combination of the classic Bollywood tradition displaying modernity, digging into timeless themes such as the concept of family and the faultlines which lies between generations. So she takes the bold step of an online route by keeping her identity secret with the help of a small-time music director Shakti Kumar helps her.

Actor Hemu Shetty says " It is truly experimental for an actor to try something different which would be very intrigued and generate curiosity for an audience, here Aamir Khan as Shakti Kumar brings out his hate and despicableness, Less lovable, more rogue, he plays a womanising singer-cum-songwriter and talent show judge. Within 3 days of its release Secret Superstar’s approx. earning is close to 56 lakhs, whereas Dangal’s earning was a 67 lakhs.

Actor Hemu Shetty further added “ Aamir underplaying his status combined with the powerful story and the splendid performance by the whole cast including Aamir are being loved by the audience. Hence proving content and performance is being loved by the global audience.”
